ADA office said nearly 480 attended expos on St. Thomas and St. Croix

The Virgin Islands Office of the Territorial ADA Coordinator said on July 24, 2024, that its "All Things ADA" expos in the St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix districts drew nearly 480 attendees combined.

According to Government House, about 250 people attended the St. Thomas event and more than 230 attended the St. Croix event. The expos were held for caretakers, seniors and people with disabilities during Disability Pride Month.

Government House said presentations covered disaster-preparedness assistive devices, health information, fraud awareness, housing assistance, banking and financial assistance, legal services and employment. The events also included an audience talent show with prizes.

The administration said sponsors included Viya and WTJX. It also identified Disability Network Partners as the Governor’s ADA Office, the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands Association for Independent Living, the Virgin Islands University Center of Excellence for Developmental Disabilities, the Department of Human Services’ Disabilities and Rehabilitation Services, and the Virgin Islands Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocates.
