14. Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool

Do you actually know the story of Mr. T? The A-Team legend otherwise known as Laurence Tureaud gets his own Netflix documentary, tracking his career through professional wrestling, his iconic roles on screen including Clubber Lang in Rocky III and instantly recognisable A-Teamer B.A. Baracus, as well as his Chicago childhood, with plenty of interviews with special guests and Mr. T himself.

However, it seems Mr. T doesn't love the result. "The documentary pissed me off, because they didn't cover a lot of stuff. When I saw it, I was like: 'What the heck?' It's garbage. You build me up, then you try to punk me out. I said: 'Wow man, I'm more than that,'" he told the Guardian. "That's what we call, in the Black community, a white man wanting to change the story and control the narrative. From One Night in Idaho: The College Murders director Matthew Galkin comes HBO's latest true crime series, which takes on the decades-long case of Dana Chandler, convicted for a 2002 double homicide in Topeka, Kansas. Notably, it's a case that preceded social media storms around true crime and armchair detectives posting online, with citizen sleuth Eileen Umbehr and her husband Keen devoting their lives to investigating the crime Chandler was charged for. Filmed over six years, A Killer Story sees former New York Times and ProPublica journalist Joe Sexton drawn into the case by Umbehr, as the series examines the trials, evidence, and finer details associated with the case. — S.C.

Disney continues to make live-action movies based on their beloved animated films with Moana. And this is certainly one of Disney's cash-grabbing remakes.

In my review, I wrote, "Aside from my general grievance about the lack of innovation in Disney's menagerie of live-action remakes, Moana has a strangely false quality to it. The cast — led by 19-year-old Catherine Laga'aia — gives performances that feel straight out of a Disney Channel show. They're bouncy and broad in a way that made me expect the cheer of a pre-recorded studio audience to break in."

While director Thomas Kail and his ensemble aim to recreate the original film with care, the artifice of CGI backdrops and Dwayne Johnson's eyesore of a Maui costume is ruinous. "The result is a film that misses the point of its protagonist's journey. Rather than going somewhere new, Kail and company avoid discovery, opting instead to approximate popular IP. And in that way, it feels like AI. It does not feel like an earnest, human expression, but rather a shallow approximation that might have the general look but misses the soul of the original work." — K.P.

11. Call My Agent! The Movie

After four seasons, beloved French comedy series Call My Agent! wrapped in 2020. Now, directed by Émilie Noblet and written by Call My Agent! creator Fanny Herrero with Lison Daniel, Call My Agent! The Movie reconnects with the illustrious ASK talent agency.

Andréa (Camille Cottin) is directing her first feature. Noémie (Laure Calamy) is kicking goals producing reality TV. When the lead walks off Andréa's set, she'll need new blood — and a new producer. With Noémie and Andréa awkwardly reunited, the drama is high on set. So, they'll need help from the ASK crew — but grudges are hard to shake. — S.C.
