Bryan issues statement on death of Tax Assessor Ira Mills

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on Feb. 4, 2025, on the death of Virgin Islands Tax Assessor Ira Mills.

In the statement, Bryan said Mills had served the territory for decades in financial management and tax administration, including as tax assessor since 2016 in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. Bryan said Mills' work dated to the administration of former Gov. Charles Wesley Turnbull.

Bryan said Mills' work in tax administration was marked by what he described as fairness, fiscal responsibility and continuity in government. He also extended condolences to Mills' family, friends and colleagues, including his daughter, Macy Mills.
