Bryan issues statement on death of former UVI President Orville E. Kean

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on Jan. 20, 2025, mourning the death of Dr. Orville E. Kean.

In the statement, Bryan offered condolences to Kean's family, friends and loved ones and said Kean's leadership at the University of the Virgin Islands marked "an extraordinary era in education and public service in the Territory."

Bryan said Kean, whom he described as the university's longest-serving president, would be remembered as an advocate for education, a mentor and a believer in the potential of Virgin Islanders.
