Bryan issues statement on death of St. Croix attorney Eszart Wynter

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on January 6, 2026, mourning the death of St. Croix attorney Eszart Wynter.

In the statement, Bryan described Wynter as a lawyer, public servant, mentor and friend, and said he had provided years of pro bono legal work for people who could not afford representation.

Bryan also said Wynter had been committed to access to justice and was known for advocating for poor and marginalized residents.

The governor extended condolences to Wynter’s family, loved ones and colleagues in the legal community.
