Interior awards $2.06 million for Virgin Islands capital projects for fiscal 2025

The U.S. Department of the Interior awarded $2,063,666 in fiscal 2025 Capital Improvement Project funding to the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to a Government House statement published June 20, 2025.

The statement said the funding, administered by the Office of Insular Affairs, was allocated to six projects: $500,000 for St. John restroom renovations through the Department of Public Works; $484,690 for an oxygen generator project at Schneider Regional Medical Center; $414,100 for mold remediation at the Knud Hansen Complex through the Department of Human Services; $350,000 for new Meals on Wheels vehicles through DHS; $184,876 for DHS information-technology improvements; and $130,000 for repairs at the Queen Louise Home for the Aged.

Government House also said the Interior Department approved the redirection of $500,000 in prior-year funds for the Schneider Regional Medical Center Interventional Cardiology Catheterization Suite project.

According to the statement, the Office of Management and Budget was to administer the new funding with the participating departments and agencies.
