VIFEMS adds seven ambulances to emergency fleet

The Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services placed seven new ambulances into frontline service on Jan. 16 during a ceremony at the David C. Canegata Recreational Facility on St. Croix.

Government House said three ambulances were assigned to the St. Croix District and four to the St. Thomas-St. John District, including one dedicated to St. John. The purchase was funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior.

The addition was the agency’s largest fleet increase since the beginning of 2017, according to the Government House statement.

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr., Lt. Gov. Tregenza A. Roach, VIFEMS Director Antonio Stevens and other agency officials attended the commissioning ceremony.
