Traffic pattern on Queen Mary Highway shifted for underground electrical project on St. Croix
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on August 8, 2025, that traffic patterns on Queen Mary Highway on St. Croix would change as work continued on its electrical undergrounding project.
WAPA said the stretch of Queen Mary Highway, also known as Centerline Road, from the Castle Burke traffic light at East Airport Road to the University of the Virgin Islands and St. Croix Educational Complex High School traffic light would reopen on August 13, 2025, in time for the first day of school.
The authority said construction would shift at 9 a.m. on August 14, 2025, to the next segment, from the UVI, St. Croix Educational Complex High School and Career and Technical Education Center traffic light to Industrial Road and Upper Love Road.
WAPA said both eastbound and westbound lanes in that section would be closed through August 23, 2025. It said westbound traffic entering Queen Mary Highway at the Castle Burke traffic light and East Airport Road would be limited to access for UVI, the Career and Technical Education Center, and the St. Croix Educational Complex once the new work zone began.
