The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on May 6, 2025, that temporary road closures were underway on St. Thomas for installation of composite poles on overhead electrical infrastructure.
WAPA said the work was being carried out by Haugland VI and included planting new composite poles, tree trimming and installing anchors.
The closures were scheduled from May 6 through May 10, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, in the Pilgrim Terrace Bypass area. WAPA identified affected areas as Route 35, Catherineberg Road and Manassah Hill Road.
The authority said a traffic management plan was in place, including traffic-control devices, detour signs and personnel to direct traffic around the work areas.
