Bryan issued May proclamations recognizing health, service and heritage observances in the Virgin Islands

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a series of proclamations for May 2025 recognizing health, public service, public safety, heritage and consumer-awareness observances in the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to Government House.

The proclamations designated May as Stroke Awareness Month and Older Americans Month. They also marked May 1 as Law Day and the National Day of Prayer.

The weeklong observances included National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5 through May 9, National Nurses Week from May 6 through May 12, National Correctional Officers and Employees Week from May 4 through May 10, and Public Service Recognition Week from May 4 through May 10.

Bryan also proclaimed Virgin Islands Police Week from May 11 through May 17, Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15, and National EMS Week from May 18 through May 24.

Additional proclamations recognized Virgin Islands African Heritage Week and African Liberation Day, the 66th anniversary of efforts toward African unification and liberation, Virgin Islands Flag Day on May 14, and Contractor Fraud Awareness Week from May 19 through May 23.
