The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it visited primary-age students at the St. Croix Montessori School summer camp on June 24, 2025, to teach them where St. Croix’s electricity and water come from.

According to WAPA, students were told that about 51% of St. Croix’s electricity comes from three solar farms through partnerships with VIElectron, VIRAPC and other providers. The agency also said students learned how seawater is converted into drinking water through reverse osmosis, a process carried out with Seven Seas Water Group.

WAPA said the visit included a read-along activity about water sources in other parts of the world and a discussion about water conservation at home.
