Bryan issues September 2025 proclamations recognizing observances in the Virgin Islands

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a series of proclamations on September 4, 2025, recognizing days, weeks and monthlong observances in the U.S. Virgin Islands during September.

The proclamations recognized Patriot Day on September 11; West Indies Solidarity Day on September 1; National Grandparents’ Day on September 7; Maroon Commemorative Day on September 27; Seat Check Saturday on September 27; Child Passenger Safety Week from September 21 through September 27; and Gold Star Mother’s and Families’ Day on September 28.

Bryan also proclaimed September as National Preparedness Month, Ovarian and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Labor and Management Awareness Month, Responsible Gaming Education Month, and Attendance Awareness Month.

In addition, the governor reaffirmed the territory’s observance of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, which runs from 2022 through 2032, in recognition of Indigenous Caribbean Amerindians and their cultural contributions.
