Abandoned vehicles at Bovoni Housing Community were tagged for removal

The Office of the St. Thomas-Water Island Administrator, working with the Virgin Islands Housing Authority and the Virgin Islands Police Department, tagged vehicles at the Bovoni Housing Community on St. Thomas on October 23, 2024, and issued notices identifying them as abandoned and derelict.

Government House said VIHA staff had previously notified residents to address vehicles left on the property. It said vehicles not addressed by their owners would be removed beginning October 28, 2024, and taken to the landfill.

According to the notice, the last registered owner of a removed vehicle would have a lien placed against the owner's driver's license, and future vehicle registrations would incur a $1,000 fine until the matter was resolved.

The notice listed 88 vehicles across areas in front of Buildings A through E and elsewhere on the property for removal.
