Bryan announced $1 million for downtown events and revitalization efforts in Charlotte Amalie, Christiansted and Frederiksted

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on September 9, 2024, that his administration planned $1 million in funding for downtown revitalization and event development in Charlotte Amalie, Christiansted and Frederiksted.

According to Government House, $750,000 was to be distributed in $250,000 grants to the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, Our Town Frederiksted and the Christiansted Retail & Restaurant Association to organize events and activities intended to increase after-hours economic activity. The announcement said the funding would support existing events including Jump-Up, Sunset Jazz and Miracle on Main Street, as well as new programming.

Bryan also said the funding initiative was tied to a legislative proposal submitted to the 35th Legislature addressing abandoned and derelict buildings.

In addition, the administration said it planned to allocate $300,000 for the 25th anniversary of Taste of St. Croix and to relaunch St. Croix’s Food and Wine Week in 2025.
