Bryan traveled to Florida for Royal Caribbean inaugural sailing and tourism meetings

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. traveled to Florida on July 15, 2024, to attend the inaugural sailing of Royal Caribbean International’s Utopia of the Seas from Port Canaveral and to hold tourism-related business meetings, according to Government House.

Government House said Bryan was scheduled to remain outside the territory until July 21, 2024. His itinerary included meetings with St. Maarten Tourism Minister Grisha Heyliger-Marten and with Adam Ceserano and Michele Paige of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association.

According to the statement, the meetings were to focus on expanding cruise tourism in the U.S. Virgin Islands, improving infrastructure to support larger vessels, and increasing the economic impact of cruise visitors on local businesses.

Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach was to serve as acting governor during Bryan’s absence.
