WAPA said fewer than 2,300 customers remained without power on Aug. 17 after Hurricane Erin
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on Aug. 17, 2025, that power restoration was continuing across the territory after Hurricane Erin, with fewer than 2,300 customers still without service.
In the St. Thomas-St. John district, WAPA said outages had fallen to fewer than 2,000 customers from about 21,000 at the start of restoration work. A small portion of customers on Feeder 7B remained without service, and crews were addressing several isolated outages on St. Thomas. WAPA said restoration had initially been delayed while transmission-line repairs were completed. St. John had been fully restored.
On St. Croix, WAPA said fewer than 300 customers remained without power, down from more than 4,000 earlier on Aug. 17.
The authority said some customers could experience temporary interruptions as the grid stabilized while restoration work continued.
