The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on April 24, 2025, that its governing board had approved a no-cost time extension to the utility’s agreement with Kami Metals LLC for cleanup and mitigation tied to the oil release from Tank 11 and the Lindbergh Bay area.

WAPA said the extension kept the authority in compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Coast Guard requirements under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.

The board also approved a no-cost time extension to WAPA’s agreement with BDO for audit services, which the authority said would allow work on its financial reporting obligations to continue.
