Bryan met with St. John seniors and discussed VITRAN service concerns
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. visited the Adrian Senior Center on St. John on March 20, 2025, where he cooked and shared lunch with senior citizens while hearing concerns about daily challenges, according to Government House.
Department of Human Services Commissioner Averil George and St. John Administrator Shikima Jones-Sprauve also attended the gathering.
During the meeting, seniors raised concerns about public transportation, including the need for reliable and accessible VITRAN service to the Loredon Lorence Boynes Sr. Ferry Dock in Cruz Bay.
Government House said Bryan told attendees that the Department of Public Works had begun acquiring smaller VITRAN buses that could better navigate the narrow and congested streets of downtown Cruz Bay, where larger buses have difficulty operating. The change is intended to improve access to key locations on St. John, particularly for seniors and people with limited mobility.
