Bryan issued January proclamations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Catholic Schools Week

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued two proclamations on January 5, 2026, recognizing Martin Luther King Jr. Day and National Catholic Schools Week in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Bryan proclaimed Monday, January 19, 2026, as Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the territory. Government House said the third Monday in January is a legal holiday in the Virgin Islands and is recognized nationally as a day of service.

The proclamation called on residents to honor King's legacy by participating in community service projects on January 19, 2026.

Bryan also proclaimed January 25 through January 31, 2026, as National Catholic Schools Week in the territory.

Government House said the U.S. Virgin Islands has four Catholic schools: Sts. Peter and Paul School on St. Thomas, and St. Mary's, St. Patrick's and St. Joseph Catholic Schools on St. Croix. The proclamation recognized the work of those schools and their educators.
