Lando Norris and McLaren beat Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli to take a masterful strategic victory in a compelling Dutch Grand Prix.

A topsy-turvy race started amid chaos as Max Verstappen crashed his Red Bull at high speed on a damp track at the end of the first lap, leading to a red flag.

Antonelli took the lead from Norris at the restart, but through two pit stops, Norris built a tyre offset to fight back and pass Antonelli for the win.

Lewis Hamilton was leading the race at the time, just ahead of the battling pair, out of sync on his pit stops, but Norris went past him further around the same lap to take the lead on track.

A late virtual safety car led to some team orders controversy at Mercedes as George Russell was ordered to let Antonelli past into second place, leaving him vulnerable to Hamilton.

But Russell, with help from a further late virtual safety car to allow marshals to recover debris on track, held Hamilton off to take the final podium position.

So Lando Norris did it again. He had to work for it but in the end he put together a composed drive to wrap up his second successive race victory.

Max Verstappen's first lap crash certainly provided some early drama but the action wasn't done there.

A moment of reflection for the respective performance of Yuki Tsunoda - who finished just outside the points having had less than a week's notice to step into the Racing Bulls car for the first time - and Liam Lawson, who, late penalty aside, had a very respectful showing in the Red Bull all weekend as he filled in for the injured Isack Hadjar.

As for now, with Norris bridging the gap to championship leader Kimi Antonelli and George Russell level on points with Lewis Hamilton, could we be in for a thrilling end to the season just like we were in 2025?

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton speaking to Sky Sports after finishing P4: "Firstly the team, the guys in the garage did a fantastic job with pit stops, the strategy, it was generally very good. The car was fanatastic and they've worked so hard to continue with a bit of an upgrade here, chipping away at it all the time. This first half of the season, we've been losing three to five tenths on the straight depending on which track we go to. It's hard definitely to overcome but we're close.

"Today was definitely frustrating for me. I'm here to win and i think this team can win. We couldn't win this race but to win championships you have to pick up every point and the last few races have been difficult with penalties and stuff and then today I lost several seconds behind Charles which I think ultimately could have made the difference in the end. My goal is to try and lead this team to the championship. We've got some work to do for sure.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, speaking to Sky Sports: "I didn't really understand why we had to box so close to George [Russell's] pit stop because that really was signing to finish behind him. I felt like there was a bit more in my tyres. Me and Lewis [Hamilton] were on different strategies. At the end of the day, it is what it is. Unlucky with the virtual safety car timing. I don't think we did a good job in qualifying and paid the price by starting further back.

"Monza is extremely special as a Ferrari driver, I don't know what to expect. It's probably going to be a difficult weekend."
