U.S. Virgin Islands government offices remained closed on Aug. 14 after Tropical Storm Ernesto

Government House said on Aug. 14 that all U.S. Virgin Islands government offices would remain closed following the effects of Tropical Storm Ernesto.

The closure applied to non-essential government services, while essential emergency services continued operating, according to the statement.

Government House also advised the public to stay off the roads as flash flood warnings remained in effect across the territory.

The statement said agencies had begun initial damage assessments. Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. and VITEMA Director Daryl Jaschen were scheduled to provide a public update at 10 a.m. on Aug. 14.
