WAPA hosted student tour of Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it hosted eight high school students from Edith Williams Alternative Academy at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas on February 24, 2026, as part of an educational tour conducted with the Senator Lewis Youth Workforce Initiative.
According to WAPA, the students toured the control room, observed generators in operation, including Wartsila units, and learned how plant operators monitor frequency levels to maintain power stability across the territory.
WAPA said the students also spoke with two senior plant operators and four engineers about plant operations and careers in the energy sector.
The authority said it planned to continue educational tours during 2026 for junior high and high school students at the Randolph Harley plant on St. Thomas and the Richmond Power Plant on St. Croix.
