Government House outlined holiday events, JetBlue return and community projects
Government House Communications Director Richard Motta Jr. said on Dec. 10 that the Governor’s Children’s Christmas Parties were scheduled for Dec. 12 on St. Croix, Dec. 14 on St. Thomas and Dec. 16 on St. John. The events were set for children from newborn to age 12.
According to Government House, the St. Croix party was scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 12 at Government House, the St. Thomas party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Havensight Mall, and the St. John party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Franklin Powell Sr. Park.
Motta also announced that JetBlue Airways was scheduled to resume service between St. Croix and Puerto Rico on Dec. 12.
Government House said Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. was scheduled to attend the grand opening of the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion on St. Croix at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12.
Motta said Bryan also was scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Petronella Solar Field on Dec. 17. Government House said the project covered 77.6 acres and included 29,100 solar panels with 16 megawatts of generating capacity.
The update also said officials were addressing illegal dumping and the closure of mechanic shops operating without permits, and planned public-awareness efforts and enforcement actions related to waste disposal.
