Bryan said U.S. Virgin Islands planned $27 million in income tax refunds within 30 days
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said during the Government House weekly press briefing on September 9, 2024, that the Virgin Islands government planned to issue an additional $27 million in income tax refunds within 30 days.
The planned payments were to go to taxpayers due refunds whose filings were free of errors and not under audit, according to the announcement.
Government House said the territory had previously distributed $5.1 million to 1,260 taxpayers in July 2024 and about $5 million to $5.1 million to 1,745 taxpayers in August 2024.
During the briefing, Bryan also urged the 35th Legislature to consider legislation that would incrementally raise the minimum wage from $10.50 an hour.
