Box Office: ‘Reminders of Him’ Leads on Friday With $8 Million; ‘Hoppers’ Holds Strong With $7.1 Million

Disney and Pixar’s animal adventure " Hoppers " is holding strong in its second weekend, but it was Universal’s teary romance “ Reminders of Him ” that took the top spot on Friday.

"Reminders of Him," the third big-screen adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel, grossed $8 million on Friday from 3,402 North American locations. The domestic total is expected to hit $19 million by Sunday.

From director Vanessa Caswill, "Reminders of Him" follows Maika Monroe as Kenna, a woman who is desperate to rebuild a life with her daughter after a stint in jail. Other cast members include Bradley Whitford, Tyriq Withers, Lauren Graham, Jennifer Robertson and Rudy Pankow.

Hoover looks to extend her box office winning streak with "Reminders of Him" after her last two books hit big with their respective cinematic adaptations. In 2024, Sony and Wayfarer Studios brought her 2016 novel "It Ends With Us" to the big screen and struck gold with $351 million worldwide. Paramount then adapted her novel "Regretting You" in the fall of 2025, earning a solid $90 million worldwide from a $30 million production budget.

"Hoppers" landed at No. 2 with $7.1 million on Friday and is projected to earn around $30 million domestically by Sunday. That represents a stellar 34% decline from last week’s earnings. The North American total is expected to reach $86 million by the end of the weekend.

"Hoppers" ended an almost decade-long losing streak for Pixar after it posted the best opening weekend for an original title since 2017's "Coco." While cashing in big on sequels like "Inside Out 2," the legendary animator has struggled to launch original IP up until now. Films like 2025's "Elio" and 2020's "Onward" failed to stick around long enough in theaters to justify their pricey production costs.

Third place on Friday went to A24's newcomer "Undertone," which earned an estimated $4.3 million domestically from 2,570 locations. The indie horror should earn $10 million by Sunday. From writer-director Ian Tuason, "Undertone" follows Nina Kiri as a paranormal podcaster who becomes haunted by ghostly recordings. Other cast members include Adam DiMarco, Michèle Duquet, Keana Lyn Bastidas, Jeff Yung and Ryan Turner.

Rounding out the Friday top five were "Scream 7" and "GOAT." "Scream 7" took fourth with $2.6 million. The legacy horror sequel should pull in $8.4 million by Sunday, pushing its North American earnings to $106 million. "GOAT" landed in fifth with $1.2 million on Friday. The family film is expected to earn $4.7 million by Sunday for a domestic total of $90.5 million
