Bryan and Roach review 2024 priorities at Dec. 30 briefing and welcome Biden to St. Croix
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. and Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach used a Government House press briefing on Dec. 30 to review administration priorities in 2024 and welcome President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden to St. Croix.
During the briefing, Virgin Islands Police Department St. Croix Deputy Chief Uston Cornelius urged residents not to engage in celebratory gunfire on New Year’s Eve. He said the department had begun operations for the 2024-2025 Crucian Christmas Festival in coordination with the Public Works and Tourism departments, including designated safety zones marked by flashing blue lights and increased police presence.
Bryan said the territory had made progress in 2024 on hurricane recovery projects, rebuilding homes and schools, and upgrading roads and water systems. He said he planned to outline the administration’s accomplishments and priorities in his seventh State of the Territory Address on Jan. 27, 2025.
The governor also recognized Virgin Islands track and field athlete Michelle Smith following her Name, Image and Likeness deal.
