Public schools and Virgin Islands government offices set to reopen on Sept. 25

Acting Gov. Tregenza A. Roach announced on Sept. 24, 2025, that all public schools in the St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix districts would reopen on Thursday, Sept. 25, and that normal central government operations would resume.

Schools, government offices and nonessential operations had been closed on Wednesday because of anticipated effects from tropical wave AL94.

Government House said the decision to resume operations followed consultations with the National Weather Service in San Juan and the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency, which determined that no further weather impacts were expected to disrupt regular government functions.

Officials urged residents to use caution while returning to school and work, particularly on roads that could remain damp or soft after recent rains. Government House also said another weather system in the region remained under observation.
