Bryan spoke to Winston & Strawn webinar on Virgin Islands business incentives
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. spoke during a virtual webinar for more than 100 clients and personnel of the law firm Winston & Strawn on June 17, 2025, according to Government House.
Speaking from Washington, D.C., Bryan outlined the U.S. Virgin Islands' Economic Development Commission program, which he said has operated for more than 50 years and offers a 90% reduction in federal income tax and a 1% customs tariff.
He also said the territory is exempt from the federal Jones Act, which he said allows foreign-flagged vessels to ship goods directly to U.S. ports from the Virgin Islands.
Bryan highlighted St. Croix as an area for economic expansion and pointed to energy-related projects including solar power integration, expanded renewable generation, underground electrical distribution and upgrades to the territory's energy delivery system led by the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority.
