Bryan orders review of tourism trends and budget amid economic concerns
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said on March 12, 2025, that his administration was reviewing global economic trends that could affect the U.S. Virgin Islands' tourism industry, household costs and broader economy.
Government House said Bryan directed Tourism Commissioner Joe Boschulte and the territory's economic planning team to analyze tourism trends and assess possible long-term effects on the territory's economy, with the aim of developing strategies to maintain and increase visitor arrivals through 2026.
Bryan also directed his financial team to review the upcoming fiscal year's budget to identify possible adjustments to maintain stability, according to the statement.
The administration said Bryan was also pushing to accelerate infrastructure projects, including construction initiatives and discussions on reopening the refinery, as part of efforts to support job growth and broaden the economy beyond tourism.
