The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said its board approved amendments on January 22, 2026, to maintain access to materials for ongoing hazardous-mitigation and composite-pole projects.

According to the authority, the changes allowed flexibility for potential tariff impacts and extended project timelines where needed to avoid delays to work tied to the electrical grid.

The board also approved adjustments to the Queen Mary Highway Phase I Electrical Underground Duct Bank Project on St. Croix. WAPA said the changes were made in response to field conditions and were intended to protect mature trees, reduce elevated work, improve maintenance access and bring the infrastructure into line with current standards.
