The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on November 12 that two water main ruptures had disrupted service in parts of St. Thomas.

A 24-inch main near Moe’s Supermarket on the Charlotte Amalie waterfront ruptured late on November 8, affecting Hospital Ground, Berg’s Home, Roberts, Estate Thomas, Havensight, Bunker Hill and nearby areas. WAPA said repairs began at 8:30 a.m. on November 9 and service was restored by 9 p.m. that day.

A separate rupture in an 8-inch main across from the Lucinda A. Millin Home affected customers in Yacht Haven, the Lucinda Millin Home area and Barbel Plaza. WAPA said crews began repairs at 8:30 a.m. on November 10 and were continuing work as of November 12 because of sewage backup issues. The authority said the Waste Management Authority was assisting so repairs to the waterline could be completed safely.
