The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on May 6, 2025, that crews were working to isolate a fault on a primary transmission line serving the East End of St. Thomas and St. John.

WAPA said crews had worked throughout the day and would continue repairs overnight on damaged infrastructure.

The authority said it had implemented rotating outages to maintain system stability and prevent overloading other parts of the electrical system. It also said contractors were on standby as needed.
