WAPA postponed scheduled island-wide electrical outage for St. John

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on January 30, 2025, that it had postponed a previously scheduled island-wide electrical outage for St. John that had been set for February 2, 2025.
WAPA said the outage had been planned so crews could test and perform preventive maintenance on the submarine cable connecting St. Thomas and St. John.
The authority said it delayed the outage to allow more time to restructure and refine its testing approach. It said a new date for the maintenance would be announced later.
