Energy secretary and delegate toured Randolph Harley plant, WAPA said
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Delegate to Congress Stacey Plaskett toured the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas on July 16, 2024.
WAPA said interim Chief Executive Ashley Bryan discussed renewable-energy projects, including the Petronella and Hogensborg agreements that had been approved by the governing board, as well as grid-resilience work during the visit.
According to the authority, officials also reviewed progress on Phase I of its composite pole project and on undergrounding electric lines across the territory. WAPA said the tour highlighted aging infrastructure at the Randolph Harley plant and active electric projects intended to improve service.
The release said interim plant superintendent Kevin Harrigan and Project Management Director Chavanté Marsh-Bultes led the tour. Plaskett said the visit reflected federal support for investment in more resilient, reliable and affordable energy systems in the Virgin Islands.
