The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on March 24, 2025, that it marked World Water Day with a week of educational events focused on water conservation and water production in the territory.

WAPA said it held outreach sessions for second-grade students at Pearl B. Larsen School on St. Croix and Joseph E. Gomez School on St. Thomas. More than 50 students took part, according to the authority. The sessions covered where water comes from, how it is processed and why protecting water resources matters.

The authority said students also learned about its partnership with Seven Seas Water Group and took part in an aquifer experiment showing how groundwater moves and how pollution can affect drinking water.

WAPA also said it hosted six University of the Virgin Islands undergraduate students for a tour of the Seven Seas Water Group facility at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas. The tour showed how water is processed from ocean intake to household distribution, according to the authority.

The March 24 release also said WAPA had begun sharing weekly "Water Wednesday" social-media posts during March about water production, infrastructure projects and conservation tips.
