The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on October 17, 2025, that it had relaunched its Net Energy Billing program under the VIEnergize brand.

WAPA said customers who generate solar energy could send unused power back to the grid and receive bill credits. The credits would be applied to electricity they used from the grid.

The authority said broader solar distribution through VIEnergize would also support the creation of microgrids, which it described as localized energy networks intended to improve reliability and resilience.
