WAPA marked National Engineering Week with engineers summit and school outreach on St. Croix
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it held an Engineers Summit on February 25, 2026, as part of National Engineering Week, bringing together the utility’s engineering staff to discuss operational challenges and improvement efforts.
According to WAPA, the session focused on recognizing engineers’ work and included discussions aimed at continuous improvement across the authority.
WAPA also said its engineers and communications staff visited Alfredo Andrews Elementary School, where students took part in hands-on activities related to water systems and pipe repairs. The utility said the outreach introduced students to engineering through problem-solving exercises tied to water service operations.
The archived release included captions identifying Fordham McElroy, an Engineering Technician III, demonstrating a gravity-fed water system, and Matthias Clarke, a Mechanical Engineer II, leading a water pipe activity challenge.
