Bryan issued April 2025 proclamations for observances, honorees and Carnival events

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a series of proclamations for April 2025 recognizing individuals, awareness observances and community events across the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to a Government House announcement published April 7, 2025.

The proclamations designated April 3, 2025, as Susan Wall Day of Honor; April 7, 2025, as Cyril Emmanuel King Day; April 25, 2025, as Timothy Theodore Duncan Day; and April 29, 2025, as APOL1-Mediated Kidney Disease Awareness Day.

The announcement also said Carnival St. Thomas' 73rd anniversary would be observed from April 27 through May 3, 2025. Listed events included Carnival Village from April 28 to May 3, Food Fair on April 30, J'ouvert on May 1, the Children's Parade on May 2 and the Adult Parade on May 3.

Administrative leave was granted for St. Thomas and St. John government employees from noon to 5 p.m. on April 30 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 1. Territory-wide administrative leave was granted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 2.

Additional April observances named in the proclamations were Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Second Chance Month, National School Library Month, National Library Week from April 6 to 12, National Librarian Day on April 16, National Crime Victims' Rights Week from April 6 to 12, National Public Health Week from April 7 to 13, Secretaries Week from April 20 to 26, Earth Day on April 22, National Administrative Professionals Day on April 23 and National Apprenticeship Day on April 30.
