Official details

What

This level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.

Where

Portions of Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands.

When

Until 5 PM AST this afternoon.

Impacts

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Additional details

Recent observations indicate that the region is experiencing hot conditions, characterized by warmer-than-normal early-morning temperatures and rapidly rising afternoon highs. The leftover moisture from yesterday's tropical wave, along with these elevated temperatures, has led to the issuance of a Heat Advisory for coastal and urban areas.

Safety instructions

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
