The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said an eastbound lane closure on Queen Mary Highway began April 4 as part of an underground electrical project on St. Croix.

According to the archived notice, the affected stretch ran from the Castle Burke community traffic light through the Aureo Diaz Heights intersection near the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.

WAPA said the closure was needed to transition power distribution for Feeder 9B from overhead lines to an underground system. The agency said additional public notices would be issued as work progressed along Queen Mary Highway, also known as Centerline Road.
