Bryan, Roach review 2024 at briefing and welcome Biden to St. Croix
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. and Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach used the Government House weekly press briefing on Dec. 30, 2024, to review administration accomplishments in 2024 and welcome President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to St. Croix.
During the briefing, Virgin Islands Police Department St. Croix Deputy Chief Uston Cornelius urged residents not to engage in celebratory gunfire on New Year’s Eve. Cornelius said the Police Department had begun operations for the 2024-2025 Crucian Christmas Festival in coordination with the Department of Public Works and the Department of Tourism, including designated safety zones marked by flashing blue lights and a continued high-visibility police presence.
Bryan said the territory had made progress in 2024 on hurricane recovery projects, rebuilding homes and schools, and upgrading roads and water systems. He also said he would outline the administration’s accomplishments and plans in his seventh State of the Territory Address on Jan. 27, 2025.
The briefing also included recognition of Virgin Islands track and field athlete Michelle Smith for a recent name, image and likeness deal.
