The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on July 11, 2025, that scholarship recipients, new hires and promoted employees had completed plant-operations training on St. Thomas and St. Croix.

WAPA said the sessions covered combustion turbines and balance-of-plant operations, which it described as key parts of its power-generation system.

According to the authority, training was held June 2 through June 4 at the Richmond Power Plant on St. Croix and June 25 through June 27 at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas.

WAPA said the sessions were led by Cyril Andrew, an Electrical Engineer III, with support from Shamade Burke, manager of operations, Alfredo Josiah Jr., an Electronic Technician II, and Vicente Donastorg, an Instrument Engineer I. The authority said its safety team was also present during the training.
