U.S. Virgin Islands issued half of November SNAP benefits with local funds

The U.S. Virgin Islands issued half of November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits to eligible households using local funds, according to a Government House announcement published Nov. 3, 2025.

The announcement said the Departments of Finance and Human Services mailed 10,603 checks on Nov. 1, 2025, providing 50% of the normal November benefit to more than 20,700 residents.

The payments followed Gov. Albert Bryan Jr.'s signing of Act No. 9047, which authorized about $2.7 million from the Budget Stabilization Fund while federal SNAP disbursements were delayed during the federal shutdown.
