Writing about the Season 2 finale, Variety critic Alison Herman said that “without the burden of having to establish itself or introduce its main characters, ‘The Pitt’ used Season 2 to emphasize the long-term, internal effects of a career in emergency medicine on protagonists we've already come to deeply care for. The individual nature of these conflicts meant the season lacked the catharsis of an entire team coming together to face the unimaginable with bravery and grace. That's also, of course, the point. If ‘The Pitt’ sprang from a desire to depict the heroism and empathy of healthcare workers on the front lines, the show has used the resulting goodwill to illustrate those qualities' long-term toll. And the long term is exactly where great television can thrive.”

“The Pitt” is a procedural set in the emergency room of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center led by Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. The cast also includes Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez and Sepideh Moafi. As exclusively reported by Variety, Supriya Ganesh has exited the series following Season 2, while recurring star Ayesha Harris has been upped to series regular for Season 3.

R. Scott Gemmill created the series ans executive produces alongside Wyle, John Wells, Erin Jontow of John Wells Productions, Simran Baidwan and Michael Hissrich.
