WAPA visited St. Croix Educational Complex summer STEM program
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it visited the STEM-focused summer program at St. Croix Educational Complex High School on St. Croix on June 23, 2025, to discuss utility-related science, technology, engineering and math careers with 21 high school students.
According to WAPA, employees from its electric and water systems engineering departments, linemen, interns and communications staff took part in the outreach event.
The authority said students received information on electricity generation, reverse-osmosis water production in partnership with Seven Seas, and the role of solar energy in the territory’s power system. WAPA also said it discussed work with contractors and partners including VIElectron, VIRAPC, Haughland VI and Marco St. Croix.
The event included a group exercise built around repairing a simulated leaky pipe, according to the release. WAPA said it also highlighted its engineering scholarship program and lineman apprenticeship program during the visit.
