WAPA marked Public Power Week from Oct. 6 to Oct. 12

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on Oct. 4, 2024, that it would observe Public Power Week from Oct. 6 through Oct. 12.
According to the authority, the observance would include outreach to students in local schools about public utilities and the role of utility employees in the territory. WAPA also said it planned to share information through radio, television and social media during the week.
The release said WAPA has operated in the Virgin Islands since 1964 and provides electric service across St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John and Water Island.
