Bryan authorized more than $7 million in income tax refunds, Government House said

Government House said on Dec. 15, 2025, that Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. had authorized more than $7 million in income tax refunds for 2,817 Virgin Islands filers who were due refunds and had filed their income tax returns by April 9, 2024.

The announcement was made during Government House's weekly press briefing. Government House said the refund batch followed releases of $10 million in November 2025 and $15.7 million in July 2025.

At the briefing, Government House also said the Department of Health was scheduled to break ground at 9 a.m. on Dec. 16, 2025, on a new public health facility at Estate Richmond on St. Croix. The facility, which Government House said would replace the former Charles Harwood Memorial Complex, was named for Dr. Donna M. Christian Christensen. Construction was to be carried out by Consigli/Benton Joint Venture, with design by Flad Architects, and completion was projected for 2028.

Department of Agriculture Commissioner Louis Petersen also announced tree distribution events under the first phase of the department's Fruit Tree and Native Tree Distribution Program. The events were scheduled for Dec. 17, 2025, at the Rudolph Shulterbrandt Agricultural Complex on St. Croix, Dec. 19, 2025, at the Department of Agriculture in Estate Dorothea on St. Thomas, and Dec. 20, 2025, at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles parking lot in Cruz Bay on St. John.

Government House said trees would be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis after participants completed a registration form.
