Bryan orders flags at half-staff for 30 days after Jimmy Carter’s death

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on December 30, 2024, mourning the death of former President Jimmy Carter and ordering that U.S. and Virgin Islands flags be flown at half-staff for 30 days.

In the statement, Bryan said Carter’s legacy extended beyond his presidency and cited his humanitarian work through the Carter Center.

Bryan also said Carter and his family visited St. Croix during the 2009 Christmas holidays, a trip he described as a lasting memory for many in the territory.

The governor extended condolences to Carter’s family and others affected by his death.
