The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority held a solar energy outreach event at Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on St. Thomas on January 24, 2025, according to a January 27, 2025, release.

WAPA said students were introduced to solar energy and other clean-energy projects in the territory. The authority said the presentation included information on the Donoe Solar Farm on St. Thomas and the Petronella and Spanish Town solar farms on St. Croix.

Students also received information about battery energy storage systems and their use at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas and at the Petronella Solar Farm on St. Croix, WAPA said.

The event included a hands-on solar oven activity in which students built simple solar ovens to make s'mores, according to the release.
