Bryan signs minimum-wage bill and acts on seven other measures from Jan. 12 session

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. acted on eight bills passed by the 36th Legislature during its Jan. 12, 2026, regular session, according to a Government House statement published Jan. 26, 2026.

Among the measures he approved was Bill No. 36-0030, which amended Title 24 of the Virgin Islands Code to increase the territory's minimum wage.

Bryan also acted on Bill Nos. 36-0089, 36-0092, 36-0105, 36-0184, 36-0210, 36-0217 and 36-0222. Those measures approved lease agreements with PEO Productions LLC, doing business as WSTA Radio, and with St. John Taxi Services Corporation; amended Virgin Islands law to prohibit the possession, sale or manufacture of THC; revised insurance holding company regulations; appropriated $4 million from the Virgin Islands Insurance Guaranty Fund to the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority; approved the sale of Parcel No. 20-A Hospital Street in Christiansted to Z Property VI LLC for $260,000; and designated Jan. 27, 2026, as St. John Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise Day, with up to $35,000 appropriated from the Tourism Advertising Revolving Fund for related festivities.

The statement also said Bryan acknowledged the Legislature's favorable action on the nomination of attorney Pedro Williams to the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands for the District of St. Thomas-St. John.

Government House said Bryan also acknowledged the Legislature's override of his veto of Section 2 of Act No. 9052, Bill No. 36-0119.
